The chiropractor is a specialist clinician. Five years of training mean highly developed diagnostic skills, and as a professional consultant he/she can determine whether manipulation is appropriate for the condition, or whether the patient should be referred for other types of treatment or further investigation.

I graduated in 1993 from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic as the valedictorian of my year. I am originally from Denmark, where I did one year at university before continuing my training for another 4 years in England. I have during my over 30 years of practice done a wealth of courses in rehab, extremity treatment, Graston technique, taping and the treatment of sports injuries. As a lot of people enter our clinics without a clear diagnosis, I especially enjoy the detective work involved in figuring out the diagnosis. What is actually going on?! Following that I treat using manipulative therapy, soft tissue work, taping and give rehab exercises. Sometimes though we may need x-rays/scans/referrals out of the house; I will take it all into consideration. To see me, book an appoint at either Handsworth or Infirmary Road clinics. I love walking the hills in the Peaks with my dogs, playing music and throw clay around in my spare time! ;-).

My name is Adam Carr and I have been a Chiropractor since 2008, working in Manchester and Sheffield. Born and bred in Sheffield, after training to be a Chiropractor at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, the call of the Peak District brought me back to my hometown after a short stint on the ‘wrong side’ of the Pennines.

I have always loved the outdoors and being active, so what better place to live than the Outdoor City, with the Peak District at your doorstep! In a former life, I used to play tennis at a high level, the highlight being playing at Wimbledon in the road to Wimbledon tournament. It was during my early tennis days that a few injuries led me to Handsworth Chiropractic Clinic as a patient myself. This experience helped cement my choice of career seeing first hand the difference chiropractic treatment can make to pain, function and performance.

My tennis rackets are now gathering dust, but that by no means stops me from being active every opportunity I get; I love to climb, cycle and hike and spend most of my free time outside with my wife, two girls and a (utterly crazy) Cockapoo. Suffice to say that I rarely get the chance to be bored.

It is this love of the outdoors and spending precious time with friends and family that motivates me most to do my job to allow others to stay active, enjoy the outdoors and go about their daily lives without pain. It also pushes me to continuing to learn and develop both personally and professionally. Some of the learning highlights have included further soft tissue qualifications including Graston technique and Dry Needling while continuing to develop my understanding of rehabilitation approaches to ensure that I have a range of tools to help my patients.
